A talk by BOB HODGE

The talk will develop some concepts from chaos theory to explore issues of multiculturalism and a chaotic globalising world

When:   Wednesday 26 February at 4.00pm

Where: Education and Humanities 2.21

Title:  CHAOS THEORY AND THE MULTICULTURAL WORLD

BOB HODGE is a ghost of Old Murdoch who still manifests in unexpected locations: currently as visiting fellow at Curtin University, and at other times  as Professor of Humanities at the University of Western Sydney. His core intellectual project is to rethink social semiotics and cultural theory  from the perspective of chaos theory and fuzzy logic (theme of his latest book, SOCIAL  FUZZIOLOGY, 2002, Springer Verlag, Heidelberg and new York, with V Dimitrov) and apply it to globalization and cyberculture, mainly in the Americas (Latin America and the American bloc) and to Australian multiculture. For many  he is  one of the foundational figures of Murdoch cultural studies.
