The  Krishna Somers Foundation  announces the second lecture/talk  of the year. The presentation is by

Dr Alan Rubinow,

an Israeli doctor of medicine currently visiting Perth.  Please come to the talk and engage in a dialogue with Dr Rubinow over   some excellent Western Australian  wine
(or orange juice).

Title:  “Personal Reflections of a Wandering South African, Jewish, Doctor and Ethicist”

 

The talk will cover a personal account of 40 years travel all over the world. It will  focus on how being born and educated in South Africa, trained in Israel and the USA, residency in the USA  and living now in Israel, have influenced the practice of medicine and kindled a personal interest in bio-medical ethics.

 

Dr Rubinow was born in  Johannesburg,  South Africa. He emigrated to Israel in January 1961 after completing his Primary and High school in South  Africa. In 1969 he graduated from the Hadassah-Hebrew University Medical School.  He is currently Associate Professor of Medicine and Head of the Department of Rheumatology at the Hadassah-Hebrew University. He is also the Chairperson of Curriculum for Teaching Medical Ethics. In 1998 Dr Rubinow was Visiting Professor in Biomedical ethics at Stanford University. He is a member of numerous national (Israel) and international committees covering medicine, rheumatology and bio-medical ethics.
